TRAINING TOPICS
-
For those working in human services and marginalized populations. These trainings can focus on identifying symptoms, recognizing psychological abuse and supporting victims.
With the prevalence of pop psychology and the entry of clinical language into the public sphere; it is important to check-in around our knowledge of this experience in order to provide trauma-informed, holistic and compassionate care to survivors.
This training has been delivered in safe shelters, domestic violence awareness spaces and across organizations that work with survivors such as legal offices and housing and human services.
-
As the reality of our country continues to evolve it is vital that we continue to focus on, uplift and encourage those we work with. Using collaboration with organizational leadership trainings can be used to provide education, understanding and growth.
Training in this space has included social justice counseling, allyship in primarily white spaces, explorations of power, rupture and repair dynamics and creating reflexive organizational cultures.
-
Support and education around how identity and sociodemographic labels impact individual and community mental health.
Training in this space facilitates a deeper understanding of self, the intersection of institutions and the impact of systems on our world and interactions. Using self-reflective practices, experiential activities and small group work; Nicole creates a space in which participants are eager to step out and engage in the practices outside of the training.
-
With a strong background in Gestalt theory and embodiment practices Nicole brings these practices to every training, regardless of the topic.
For those interested in learning more about how Gestalt uses the here-and-now, felt presence and the present moment to create a space for healing this training is a great introduction. For those looking to deepen their Gestalt skills and explore the connection to multicultural counseling further trainings are available.

MA, LPC, PhD
Liberation Therapist & Educator
As a seasoned educator, I design my trainings to be inclusive, interactive and engaging. I’ll meet you and your team exactly where you’re at.
Participants say that my teaching style is welcoming, clear and non-shaming. My goal is that participants learn something new about the topic, themselves and others creating a more cohesive and empowering team culture.
I’m passionate about training because my experience as an educator has supported my belief that learning can be a conduit to healing. As a social justice oriented counselor I believe that we must attend to change and healing at all levels, from individual to institutional in order to create a better world for all.
My blend of experiences, both personal and academic, create a well-rounded and authentic way of being that former participants have found to be inviting and provided real life applications to their work.
I look forward to collaborating with you and your commmunity.
PAST TRAININGS
TOPIC: Working with Diverse Populations
-
Cal-Wood Education Center provides environmental and outdoor education to children and families across Colorado. Cal-Wood historically works to create access to the outdoors to historically marginalized populations.
Due to the demographics in Colorado, Cal-Wood counselors are disproportionately white and primarily work with children and families of color.
-
A 3-hour training for Cal-Wood included a brief history of the recognition and realities of racism and oppression within nature and outdoor spaces. Participants were invited to explore the impact of their own identities through individual and small group work. Participants were provided with self-reflective practices to continue their development outside of training and identified ways and skills to be more culturally attuned, recognize biases and better enact the values of Cal-Wood.
